Settings of the Grounds

In the book Catching Fire, written by Suzanne Collins, the book starts out with Katness (Main Girl Character) thinking about the first Hunger Games in the woods.  She has many thoughts as to what could scurry through the woods at that very moment.  She thinks to herself, "If a pack of wild dogs were to appear at this moment, the odds of scaling a tree before they attacked are not in my favor" (Collins 3).  She is worried that if anything were to attack, she wouldn't be quick enough to escape.  There is a very quiet pause while she is thinking, she thinks about Effie Trinket, the Hunger Games, Reporters, and even the Camera Crew.  When thinking about Effie, she thinks, "I wonder if Effie will still be wearing that silly pink wig, or if she'll be sporting some other unnatural color for the Victory Tour" (Collins 3).  It worries her that she might have to go back to the Hunger Games again!  She hopes to be able to protect her family with her winnings and skills, just like her dad!
